Freeze Dried Caramel Apples
Freeze dried fresh apple slices with a light drizzle of caramel. Oh so good! These were only made available at our in person markets over the holidays as a holiday special. They are so tasty we decided to make them available year round! These make the perfect afternoon treat.
Why Freeze Dry?
Unlike other methods of food preservation, freeze drying does not shrink or toughen the food, and retains flavor, color, and nutrition.
Nutrition
Freeze drying maintains nearly all of the nutritional value of fresh food. Other methods of preservation, such as canning and dehydrating, use high temperatures that destroy much of the food value.
Shelf Life
Freeze dried food can last up to 25 years if unopened and stored properly. Once opened and the freeze-dried food is exposed to oxygen, use it ideally within 1 month.
